Agar & Light Malt Extract Powder
Agar Powder & Light Malt Extract (LME) Pre‑Mix for Agar Plate Preparation
This convenient pre‑mixed formulation contains 10 g of agar powder and 15 g of light malt extract (LME) — sufficient to prepare approximately 20 agar plates.
Preparation Instructions:
Add the contents to 500 ml of distilled water.
Heat gently and bring to a low boil, allowing the mixture to simmer until all powders have dissolved.
Transfer the solution into an Erlenmeyer flask or heat‑resistant jar, cover with aluminium foil, and sterilise in a pressure cooker at 15 PSI for 20–25 minutes.
Allow the medium to cool to 55–60°C, then pour into sterile petri dishes within a laminar flow hood or still air box.
