Red Chanterelle

€12.49

Premium Red Chanterelle (Cantharellus cinnabarinus) liquid culture delivering clean, vigorous mycelium. Known for its vibrant red-orange colour, firm texture, and delicate fruity aroma, this culture is ideal for enthusiasts and growers seeking reliable cultivation genetics.

Ideal Growing Conditions: Red Chanterelle (Cantharellus cinnabarinus)

Red Chanterelle is a mycorrhizal mushroom that forms symbiotic relationships primarily with hardwood trees such as oak, beech, hickory, and conifers including pine and other coniferous trees. It thrives in mixed hardwood and conifer forests, often in moist, well-drained soils rich in leaf litter and decaying wood debris. These mushrooms are typically found in dappled sunlight along creek banks, slopes, and mossy ground cover. They prefer acidic to neutral soils and tend to fruit during summer through early winter.

What's Included?

  • 10ml liquid culture syringe containing actively growing Red Chanterelle mycelium

  • Sterile alcohol wipe

  • 18G sterile needle for inoculation into sterile media such as agar or sawdust spawn

  • Sealed in a labelled zip-lock bag for safe storage and transport

What Is Liquid Culture?

Liquid culture is a nutrient-rich broth composed of distilled water, malt extract, dextrose, and honey, providing ideal nutrients for mushroom mycelium to thrive. The mycelium acts as the fungal “seed,” which can be transferred for cultivation or spawn production.

How to Make Sawdust and Grain Spawn to Inoculate a Forest Area

  1. Sawdust Spawn:
Prepare sterilised hardwood sawdust substrate, ideally supplemented with bran for nutrition. Inoculate the sawdust with the liquid culture under sterile conditions and incubate at 18–24°C until fully colonised with white mycelium. Sawdust spawn can then be placed in holes around preferred host trees (oak, beech, hickory, pine), about 15 cm deep, covered with soil and mulched with forest leaf litter to support mycorrhizal establishment.

  2. Grain Spawn:
Sterilise grains such as rye, millet, or oats and inoculate them with the liquid culture. Once fully colonised, the grain spawn can be mixed with prepared sawdust spawn or used alone. Introduce the grain spawn near tree roots by creating pockets or holes around the base, cover with soil, and keep moist to encourage mycelium growth and eventual fruiting.

Note: Red Chanterelle mycorrhizal colonisation and fruiting can take several years. Success depends on the presence of compatible host trees and suitable environmental conditions.

This premium liquid culture product is supplied by Artisan Mushrooms, specialists in mushroom cultivation supplies.

Storage

For maximum freshness and vitality, use your Red Chanterelle liquid culture promptly. If not in immediate use, store refrigerated at 2–4°C for up to 3 months. Each batch is lab-tested for purity and vitality, prepared fresh under sterile conditions with laminar flow hood protocols to ensure contamination-free cultures.
