Sterilised grain is used to expand mushroom mycelium before moving a fully colonised culture onto an appropriate fruiting substrate.
Our 2 kg sterilised wheat grain bags include a self-healing injection port and filter patch for gas exchange.
The bag contains sterile, uncolonised grain when supplied. After inoculation with a suitable mushroom culture and complete colonisation, the grain becomes grain spawn.
Grain spawn can then be used to inoculate an appropriate fruiting substrate for the mushroom species being grown.
