Which mushroom should I choose?
Blue Oyster is vigorous and especially suitable for cooler fruiting conditions.
Pearl Oyster is a reliable, versatile choice for first-time growers.
Lion’s Mane is a distinctive hardwood-loving mushroom that benefits from good humidity and regular fresh-air exchange.
Do I need specialist equipment?
No. You do not need a pressure cooker, flow hood or specialist laboratory equipment. The grow bag remains sealed during inoculation and colonisation.
How do I inoculate the grow bag?
Clean the self-healing injection port with the supplied alcohol wipe, attach the sterile needle and inject the liquid culture directly into the grain layer at the bottom of the bag.

When should I mix the grow bag?
Allow the grain layer to develop strong white mycelium before mixing it through the hardwood substrate.
After mixing, lightly tamp the bag down to reform a compact block.
How long will the mushrooms take to grow?
Timing varies by mushroom species, temperature and growing conditions. Colonisation normally takes several weeks, followed by the fruiting stage.
How should I store the liquid culture?
Store the liquid-culture syringe in a refrigerator at approximately 2–8°C until use. Do not freeze it.
Does the kit include growing support?
Yes. Artisan Mushrooms provides support with inoculation, colonisation and fruiting.
