What Is Liquid Culture?

Liquid culture is a nutrient-rich solution made from distilled water and carefully selected carbohydrates such as light malt extract, dextrose, or honey. These nutrients provide an ideal environment for mycelial growth and expansion.

The mycelium suspended within the liquid culture acts as a living inoculant that can be used to inoculate a grow kit, grain spawn, agar plates, or suitable cultivation substrates. Liquid culture is often preferred because it allows rapid colonisation, efficient expansion, and reliable mycelial growth.

Storage

For optimal viability and vigorous growth, use your liquid cultures as soon as possible after receipt.

If immediate inoculation is not possible:

• Store the sealed syringes in a refrigerator at 2–4°C

• Do not freeze

• Best used within 3 months of receipt
